Understandable since GSW had record 73 wins but the Spurs had tied the record going 40-1 at home which is just insane.

It's only overlooked now but during 2015-16 the Spurs were talked about a lot. They had one of the best defenses of all time and there was a possibility of them also breaking the Bulls' 72-10.record.
People were anticipating aWarriors vs Spurs WCF that they say would be the REAL NBA finals which everyone expected was going to be one of the best series ever.
It's just that they underachieved in the playoffs by losing in the second round and now people tend to forget about them because the Thunder and Warriors' 3-1 collapse were more memorable.

I think kyrie leaving also set them back these last two years. I think they knew when Lebron signed that he won’t stay there the rest of his career, but they thought Kyrie would still be there to take over when he does leave. Kyrie and love would still be a respectful team in the east with the right pieces around them. It’s not the only reason for their struggles but I think it’s a big one.
